Baptism
Baptism serves as the first sacrament one receives when entering the Catholic Faith.
It is a sacrament of initiation, which you can only receive once; once you receive it, you enter into the body of Christ, the Catholic Church. When baptized, the individual receives justifying and sanctifying grace, and the Holy Spirit dwells within them.
Infant Baptism
We commend you for welcoming Christ into your child! May God bless you in raising and caring for your child. Your child will learn many things from you throughout their lives, but none as important as living a Christian life as a member of a community of worship, commitment, and service.
To schedule or learn more about infant baptism at St.Mary Magdalen, complete our baptismal intake form or call our office.
Pre-Jordan Class
Prior to your first infant's baptism, parents must attend a Pre-Jordan class, which is offered the first Sunday of each month after the 11:30 AM Mass, unless otherwise directed. The Gathering Room located on off the narthex near the restrooms. Godparents are also welcome to attend this informative session which reviews the sacrament and the baptismal process.
No pre-registration is required but is helpful for planning purposes.
Adult Baptism
Adult entrance into the Catholic Church occurs through the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA). This process includes baptism for the unbaptized.
The OCIA is a gradual process of education and formation that begins with an inquiry. Whether unbaptized or baptized in another Christian denomination, this journey helps adults to grow in their relationship with God. Our process focuses on the teachings and practices of the Catholic faith and the value and application of faith in our daily lives. To learn more or to inquire, visit:
