About Our Pastor
Rev. Eric J. Banecker
Prior to becoming our parish's pastor on June 17, 2024, Rev. Eric J. Banecker served as parochial administrator and pastor at Saint Francis De Sales Parish in Philadelphia for four years. On May 19, 2018, he was ordained a priest by Most Rev. Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. He served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Pius X Parish in Broomall for two years after ordination. Fr. Eric received an M.Div. and M.A. from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Fr. Eric has deep roots in the area as he is a South Philadelphia native and the son of Mr. Eric F. and Mrs. Joanne Banecker. He attended the University of Pennsylvania and earned a B.A. in English and Classical Studies. His spiritual writing appears in online publications such as First Things, CatholicPhilly, and others, as well as on the parish's website and weekly bulletin. Fr. Eric is actively involved with various Catholic organizations and outreach, including the Young Catholic Professionals. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Collegium Institute and is an adjunct professor at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Before his Installation Mass on Sunday, September 29, at 9:30 AM, Fr. Eric will be honored on Sunday, September 22, by the Little Sisters of the Poor for his support of their mission of serving vulnerable elderly at the Saint Jeanne Jugan Gala.
